A forklift is a powered industrial truck used to lift, carry, and stack materials that are too heavy for a person to handle. It gets its name from the two metal forks at the front that slide under pallets, crates, or other loads. Once the forks are in position, the operator raises the load, moves it to a new location, and sets it down.
