Clark Material Handling Company, also known simply as CLARK, is an American manufacturer of forklift trucks headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The company is credited with inventing the world's first forklift in 1924, cementing its legacy as a pioneer in the material handling industry. Today, Clark offers one of the broadest product lines in the industry, covering all five forklift classes from hand pallet jacks to 18,000-pound capacity sit-down forklifts, with over 350,000 units in operation worldwide. With manufacturing facilities in South Korea, the USA, China, and Vietnam, Clark has been at the forefront of every major technological advancement in the forklift industry.
Company Heritage – The First Name in Forklifts
Clark's history dates back to 1917 when the Clark Equipment Company invented the Tructractor, the world's first internal combustion-powered industrial truck. In 1919, the Clark Tructractor Company was formed as a division of Clark Equipment. The company's crowning achievement came in 1924 with the introduction of a modified Duat tow tractor featuring a hydraulic lifting mechanism—officially the world's first internal combustion forklift. Today's Clark Material Handling Company is a direct descendant of the Clark Tructractor Company. Clark has manufactured over 1 million units since its founding. In 2003, Clark was purchased by the Young An Hat Company of Korea, which owns the company to this day. The company is present in 102 global markets, supported by over 334 dealers in more than 481 locations.
2026 Product Lineup – Electric and Crossover Innovations
At LogiMAT 2026 in Stuttgart, Clark presented its latest electric counterbalance forklifts, with the focus on the crossover series featuring the Raider and Renegade models, as well as the S-Series Electric.
Crossover Series – Raider and Renegade
The crossover models represent a new category of industrial truck, designed to deliver the operating characteristics of internal combustion equipment while incorporating the benefits of lithium-ion electric power. Clark Equipment states: "The Crossover concept is quite simple: going electric should not require a compromise on performance" .
Raider Series (L25-35XE): Offers a cost-effective entry-level solution in the crossover segment, representing a durable alternative to internal combustion forklifts with good all-round visibility, predictable handling, and a long service life. The L30XE has a load capacity of 3 tons.
Renegade Series (S25-35XE): Targets operators who do not want to forego the advantages of the well-known Clark S-Series—Smart. Strong. Safe. Based on the proven S-Series chassis, it offers features that enhance efficiency, safety, and comfort. The S30XE has a load capacity of 3 tons.
Both crossover models cover load capacities ranging from 2.5 to 3.5 tonnes and combine the proven strengths of combustion engine forklifts with the ecological benefits of electric drives without compromising on performance. They have proven particularly powerful in demanding applications both indoors and outdoors, demonstrating that electric forklifts can replace classic combustion engine forklifts even in intensive applications. The CLARK S25XE Series directly addresses the gap between IC and electric, delivering IC-like performance in an electric package and making electrification genuinely viable for demanding, real-world industrial environments.
S-Series Electric – SE16-20 and SE25-35
The S-Series Electric offers flexible energy solutions with lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries available via plug & play.
SE16-20 Series (48-volt): Three-wheel and four-wheel electric forklifts with load capacities of 1.6 to 2 tonnes and a maximum lift height of up to 7,075 mm. The SE20 four-wheel model was a highlight at LogiMAT 2026.
SE25-35 Series (80-volt): Electric forklifts with load capacities of 2.5 to 3.5 tonnes, characterized by the attributes Smart, Strong, and Safe.
Fusion Battery Integration
Clark's Fusion battery integrates seamlessly into electric forklift models—from compact 48-volt three- and four-wheel electric forklifts (1.6 to 2-ton capacity) to larger 80-volt electric forklifts (2.5 to 5-ton capacity), spanning the GEX series, the S-Series, and the Raider and Renegade crossover series.
New Electric Pallet Trucks
Clark unveiled a new generation of electric low-lift pallet trucks at LogiMAT 2026, comprising five models designed for internal material handling across retail, production, and warehouse environments: the ELP15, BPT15, WLE20, WEP20, and RPE20.
