Factors That Reduce Effective Capacity


1. Load Center

The rated capacity assumes a standard load center—typically 500mm (24″) for most forklifts. If the load center increases (i.e., the load extends further forward on the forks), the effective capacity decreases. A load that extends beyond the rated load center can reduce capacity by 20–50% or more.


2. Lift Height

Rated capacity is measured at standard lift height. As the mast extends to higher lift heights, residual capacity decreases. The capacity at 6m may be significantly lower than at 3m.
